COVID-19 BUSINESS LIST On Wednesday, March 25 the state superintendent announced Maryland public schools will extend closure for another four weeks through April 24. Governor Hogan issued an Executive Order on Monday, March 23 directing all non-essential resource workers to work from home beginning at 5:00 PM today until further notice. This is not a Shelter-in-Place Order. However, all Marylanders are urged to remain home, and employer's are urged to promote work-from-home arrangements to the greatest extent possible.

Governor Hogan announced new COVID-19 business relief programs on March 23. These resources are available through the Department of Commerce and the Department of Labor. Some of the new resources include the Economic Injury Disaster Loan, COVID-19 Business Emergency Relief Fund, and the COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund.
Maryland Small Business COVID-19 Emergency Relief Loan Fund - This $75 million loan fund offers no interest or principal payments due for the first 12 months, then converts to a 36-month term loan of principal and interest payments, with an interest rate at 2% per annum.
Maryland COVID-19 Emergency Relief Manufacturing Fund - This $5 million incentive program helps Maryland manufacturers to produce personal protective equipment (PPE) that is urgently needed by hospitals and health-care workers across the country. More information coming by Friday, March 27, 2020.
Maryland Department of Labor COVID-19 Layoff Aversion Fund designed to support businesses undergoing economic stresses due to the pandemic by preventing or minimizing the duration of unemployment resulting from layoffs. The award (up to $50,000 per applicant), will be a quick deplooyable benefit and customizable to the specific needs of your business to minimize the need for layoffs.
Please note that as of 5 p.m. on April 6, the Maryland Department of Commerce is no longer accepting new applications for its Small Business COVID-19 Relief Grant and Loan Programs. President Donald Trump announced last week that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) will provide low-interest loans to companies affected by the outbreak, and that he will ask Congress to increase funding for the SBA lending program to $50 billion.

On Wednesday, March 18, Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman called for the closure of nearly all county buildings, with the exception of police and fire stations open in case of emergency. The Arundel Center in Annapolis will be open to the public briefly Friday morning, March 20 for an emergency County Council meeting for a hearing and vote on a bill extending the county’s state of civil emergency until April 4, or until the state-level declaration is terminated.
The Maryland Primary has been moved to June.
Anne Arundel County Public Library is closed and the book drop will remain closed until the library re-opens. Young learners from kindergarten through fifth grade can learn a variety of math concepts using animated picture books online, then follow along with the included lesson plans or quizzes. Limits to some digital resources have also been temporarily eliminated including some content for adults on the Kanopy streaming service. Additionally, out-of-library access to Ancestry.com Library Edition is also available. The library is also breaking down barriers to customers who sign up for a library card online. Starting today, customers who sign up for the virtual library card will have 90 days to visit a branch to trade it in for a full-service physical card instead of the usual 60 days. Anyone who lives, works or owns property in Maryland is eligible for an Anne Arundel County Public Library card.
Per Executive Order by Governor Larry Hogan, Maryland State government is now operating at Elevated Level II, which mandates teleworking of State employees to the greatest extent possible and the closure of most State office buildings to the public. Some State offices may be open, but only for pre-established appointments. Starting on Friday, March 13, the Maryland Department of Veterans Affairs Office of the Secretary in Annapolis will be closed to the public. Across the state, the Department will remain operational to the extent possible by email and by remote response to voice mail.
