Spring is here and it brings a season for new growth and development.  That new growth isn’t just for your flower beds and gardens.  It should extend to your business too.  This is a good season to get more involved in networking activities to build up your existing business relationships and grow new ones. 

Did you know that studies have shown that when a company is active in its local chamber of commerce, it is doing the right thing not only for the community, but for its own success as well.   Your membership in the chamber tells consumers that your business is reputable, that you care about your customers, that you are involved in the community, and that you use good business practices.

You can make the investment in your chamber membership grow dividends for you and your business. The chamber gives you the opportunity to meet people actively involved in businesses and community organizations.  Then it is up to you to turn those opportunities into profitable partnerships. 

When I hear someone say that they did not get anything from their chamber membership, I have to question what they put into it.  You can’t just pay your dues and sit back and wait for the referrals to come to you.  People want to do business with people they know.  You will never be known as an industry leader if you are not an active part of the community too. 

So as you watch the grass grow and flowers bloom, think about attending networking events and planting the seeds of interest among new business contacts.  You will reap the benefits of what you sow.
